Hello, crafty friends!

Today, I’m sharing two beautiful handmade cards created using the Mixed Florals stamp set by Stampin’ Up! and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. These two cards showcase the difference between a bold outline colouring style and the no-line watercolour technique using alcohol markers.

Card 1: Traditional Stamp Outline with Bold Colours

For the first card, I stamped the floral image in black memento ink, which provides a clear, defined outline. Then, using Stampin’ Blends, I coloured the tulips in daffodil delight, the leaves in granny apple green, and the small blossoms in light flirty flamingo. The adorable ladybugs add a whimsical touch to the design.

To frame the design, I used a layered die-cut shape in coordinating yellow cardstock, which enhances the warm, cheerful feel of the card. The result is a vibrant, high-contrast card that makes the flowers pop against the white background.

Card 2: No-Line Watercolour Effect with Stampin’ Blends

For the second card, I used the no-line watercolour technique by stamping the floral image in basic beige ink. This technique allows the colouring to blend seamlessly, creating a soft, hand-painted effect rather than a defined stamped outline.

Using Stampin’ Blends, I achieved a watercolour look by layering colours gently, focusing on blending transitions for a natural effect. The tulips are shaded in calypso coral, while the leaves have varied tones of shy shamrock to mimic natural light and depth. The yellow accents add a delicate contrast.

The die-cut frame in calypso coral cardstock perfectly complements the floral hues, giving the card a classic, elegant feel.

Comparing the Two Techniques

Bold Outline Colouring gives a graphic, crisp look, great for bright, high-contrast designs.

No-Line Watercolouring creates a soft, painterly effect, perfect for delicate, artistic cards.

Both techniques have their own charm, and the beauty of crafting is that you can experiment and choose the style that best suits your project!
